Two years later his mother Betty J. Purvis hopped a greyhound bus, infant in hand, destined for Los Angeles. They lived in Hollywood, California for four years until she met his adoptive father, Bert Roberts, who was a chef at the time. Betty and Bert married in Las Vegas when Jeremy was seven years old. Three more children followed.
When Jeremy was 17 he enlisted the United States Marine Corps. and served during Viet Nam. Semper Fi. Four years later he was honorably discharged from the U.S.M.C. with the rank of Sergeant. He returned to Hollywood seeking work as Bartender, Lifeguard, Waiter, Bodyguard and many other professions. Doing a favor for a director friend he appeared in his first theater production.
The dye was cast…
He attended Los Angeles Valley College, obtaining an A.A in Theater Arts and appearing in various productions including “The Misanthrope,” “Rashomon,” and “The Dumbwaiter.” He was then accepted into The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco in where one of his classmates was Annette Bening. He appeared in productions of “King Lear,” “Macbeth” and many others. After graduating from ACT he moved on to Repertory Theater with Pacific Conservatory Theater, Denver Center Theater, and various others.
Settling in Los Angeles, Jeremy signed with his first and only agent, The Gage Group and booked his first television role, as the thief, in John Ritter’s dramedy, ”Hooperman.” His first film role was in “Christmas Vacation.”
He has appeared in over 200 Co-Starring and Guest Star appearances over the past 30 years. He continues to work all over the world.
