Ben Paddon Profile

Ben Paddon ProfileBen Paddon is a British-born writer and geek humorist currently living in Los Angeles. He was born the same day Chernobyl exploded, although he maintains he has an airtight alibi with at least three witnesses.

He’s the creator, Director, co-Writer and Host of PortsCenter, a webseries which looks at unique and interesting ports of videogames. The pilot has been compared favorably to the work of British media critic Charlie Brooker. Which is nice. A second pilot and a full series are expected to follow later this year.

He’s also the co-creator and Head Writer for the scifi-comedy webcomic Jump Leads, a critic of games media at the blog Game Journalists Are Incompetent Fuckwits, and provides regular op-ed pieces for gaming editorial site The DamnLag. In 2008-09 Ben co-wrote the popular web mini-series Boomer’s Day Off, which to date has been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube alone.

He has been a guest on BBC Radio Five Live’s Game On to offer his thoughts on the wonky videogame review scale, and has appeared in at least one episode of popular sing-along teen angst-a-thon, Glee. No, really.

He is a semi-regular contributor to the Doctor Who fansite Unlimited Rice Pudding!, and also maintains the political blog But, Sir… where he and friend Andrew mercilessly mock the sort of person who thinks it’s a good idea to petition the Prime Minister of Great Britain to have the football broadcast on the BBC instead of one of the paid sports channels.

Ben enjoys sitcoms, video games, eating Pop Tarts, and writing biographies of himself in the third person. His favourite colour is mope.
